The Carrie Nelson Foundation serves with the intent of enriching local and global communities via grantmaking, academic scholarships, and mutual aid distribution.

Additionally, we aim to create and preserve spaces for the healing and advancement of those who have been historically marginalized, silenced, and underserved.

The grantmaking program is a biannual offering that aims to provide monetary and networking support to emerging and established Black literary artists in poetry and screenwriting.

The mutual aid program is a growing initiative that works to provide emergency resources to/for those who are in need without exploitative strings attached to them.

The Foundation’s scholarship program dreams of providing enriching scholarship gifts to students who are in need of additional financial support for their daily/weekly/semester/
yearly needs.
